At Flint Central Church of the Nazarene we Worship, we Learn, we Serve

Central Serves exists to help us match up our peoples' skills with opportunities to serve. If someone proposes a new idea for service that fits with our mission, we look for a leader who is passionate about it and committed to a successful launch, recruitment of people, and leading the operation.  If we can find such a leader we launch.  If not, we wait. We want to do the right things and do them well. Without a good leader, great ideas can be lost forever.

We have many service areas that have existed for years with great success outside of the Central Serves umbrella. Central Serves was initiated as part of a vision to bring greater intentionality and sustainable effort around some things that would otherwise see only small numbers of people involved where many could be.  Some of our service areas are: Habitat for Humanity, Hope for the Fatherless, Zoie Sky, Carriage Town and Eastside Missions, Home Repair, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and a ministry for the shut-ins.

  • Habitat for Humanity - Building ultra-affordable homes - Scott Brumwell
  • Hope for the Fatherless - Orphan Advocacy - Joe and Angie Asperger
  • Zoie Sky - Bedrooms for kids who don't have them - Kali Weber
  • Carriage Town and Eastside - Local Rescue Missions - Tom McLaughlin/Dave Perry
  • Home Repair - Home repair and advice (not a business, but a help) -  Bob Donaldson
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters - (Amachi Program: Mentoring) -
  • Donations (Furniture/Appliances) - (Collection/Inventory/Delivery supporting Zoie Sky and Home Repair) Tim Hurd
  • Shut-In Ministry - visitation program for the home bound members of our congregation - Jill Susalla

The church office can connect you with the service leader in your area of interest.   We are all called to service.  It is our greatest privilege and the best way to say "thanks" to the One who has given us life.  If we are to follow Jesus we must serve as he did.  Are you ready?  The "fields" of service are waiting for you!  Discover and express your gifts through serving.
